When you know it’s time for a break! How do you achieve that work-life balance. We need to get better at recognising the signs and symptoms of burnout.
So how do you know when you’re working too hard?
Well for me today the SIGN is when the days blur into one. I woke up thinking it was Monday! I’ve had my head so deep in a report that I’ve lost track. Time to get that work life balance right.
What are some of the signs and symptoms you see?
Let’s use the six stages framework to map out what people at the different stages of burn out look like.
First draft of framework
Stage 1: People at this stage don’t recognise they are overworking
Stage 2: People at this stage know they are overworking and but have no idea what to do about it
Stage 3: People at this stage understand the signs and symptoms and recognise them in themselves
Stage 4: Those at this stage can take corrective action when needed
Stage 5: People at this stage are able to talk to others about their burnout and share their experiences.
Stage 6: those at this stage can support others and help them to recognise the signs and symptoms and take corrective action.
If we fail to spot the signs and symptoms of burnout then people can spiral down the negative axis.
Identifying the signs and symptoms helps us to deal with the issue.

Which stage are you at?
Check out my websites for more details (and blogs) on the principles of of six stages framework and how it can be applied to different areas such as discriminations and behaviours. How it can help help us to spot the signs and symptoms. And more importantly how it can help provide us with the language to talk about difficult issues and identify where we are in our understanding and the ability to deal with these issues.
