Dr. Shungu Hilda M’gadzah

Dr. Shungu Hilda M’gadzah is the Director and Lead Consultant Psychologist at Inclusion Psychologists Ltd and founder of the Six Stages Framework—an innovative model designed to help individuals and organisations understand and address racism and discrimination with psychological insight and practical tools.
With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Shungu has worked extensively with children, young people, and adults with learning disabilities, communication difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. She has held senior leadership positions in both the public and voluntary sectors and served at Board level, bringing strategic oversight and policy influence. As a Head of Service in education, she led and managed multidisciplinary teams, driving impactful change in inclusive practice.
Dr. Shungu spent 8 years lecturing in Higher Education, teaching postgraduate MSc Educational Psychology students, and holds a Doctorate in Education and Child Psychology, with her research focusing on Emotional Intelligence.
Her Six Stages Framework—now used as a therapeutic, coaching, and organisational tool—offers a psychologically grounded process for engaging with issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion. It also supports professionals in building empathy, compassion, and deeper client/patient relationships.
She provides psychological assessments, therapeutic interventions, and serves as an expert witness in medico-legal and educational appeals. Additionally, Dr. Shungu offers executive coaching and strategic D&I consultancy to a range of clients, including the NHS, schools, and corporate organisations. Her book on the Six Stages Framework is used as a core training text in leadership and coaching programmes.
Dr. Shungu is Chair of the Six Stages Framework Board and serves as a Governor of a special school in Essex. She is also an Associate Delivery Partner with Inclusivitii, providing leadership coaching and D&I training.
