Why you need an Inclusion Profile.
Over the past few years, I’ve had countless conversations with people who tell me:
“I’m committed to inclusion.”
“I care about equity.”
“I want to be an inclusive leader.”
But when we sit together and begin to unpack the
how, many struggle to articulate what that really means – across race, gender, disability, neurodiversity, and identity.
That gap between intention and practice is exactly why I created Inclusion Profiles within the Six Stages Framework.
– Not to judge.
– Not to label.
– But to help people understand their own journey – honestly, compassionately, and in full colour.
Because inclusion is not one thing.
It’s how you show up across many forms of difference.

Working with Sharon Hurley Hall to design her Inclusion Profile was a powerful reminder of what it looks like when someone leans into the work with openness, courage, and integrity.
Behind this visual is a story:
A woman who has navigated multiple geographies and identities
A lifelong commitment to dismantling anti-Blackness
A willingness to examine where she is strong, where she is stretching, and where she is still learning
A leadership journey built on empathy, curiosity, bridge-building, and consistency
This is the part of inclusion that people don’t always see:
The inner landscape. The ongoing work. The courage to name where you are.
Inclusion Profiles give us language for this.
My intention behind the tool
When I developed the Six Stages Framework, I wanted people to have a way of reflecting on how they meet difference – not just the differences they are comfortable with.
Many of us may be at +5 on anti-racism,
but at +2 on disability justice.
Or reflective on gender,
but unaware or inconsistent on neurodiversity.
That variation doesn’t make you a bad person.
It makes you human.
The goal is not perfection – it is movement. Awareness. Integrity.
A willingness to keep choosing empathy over comfort.
A gentle invitation
If you created your own Inclusion Profile today…
What story would it tell?
Where are you confident?
Where are you curious?
Where are you still growing?
And are you willing to look at your journey with honesty and compassion?
This is the heart of inclusive leadership.
This is the work of Building Bridges of Empathy.
If you’d like to explore your own Inclusion Profile, I’m always happy to walk with you through the process.
